Jeremiah Williams
Founder · Guitar Instructor

Hi, I’m Jeremiah.

I’ve helped hundreds of adult beginners and returning players build confidence and enjoy making music on guitar. Whether you’ve never picked one up or you’re coming back after years away, we’ll start where you are and build a foundation you can keep using.

I teach acoustic and electric guitar across a range of styles, including fingerstyle, jazz, and soloing. I also teach bass and songwriting. My goal is to help you understand what you’re playing, so you can approach a new song for yourself with confidence.

How I Got Here

Self-taught beginnings, formal study, and a life spent making music.

As both a self-taught musician and someone who pursued private lessons whenever I could afford them, I understand how frustrating it can be to learn without clear guidance.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in music and a master’s degree in music composition, combining formal study with decades of teaching, performing, composing, and playing in bands.

Teaching Philosophy

Useful skills, musical understanding, and room to be human.

We do not only learn how to play songs. We take them apart, understand what makes them work, and build a practical roadmap around the music you want to make.

Lessons can support learning songs, fretboard knowledge, music theory, technique, songwriting, improvisation, or simply becoming a more confident musician.

Teachers and Mentors

Lessons I carry forward.

No musician grows alone. I have studied with players including Martin Taylor, John Knowles, Richard Smith, Nelson Faria, Nate Radley, Tony McManus, Walt Bibinger, and Spencer Reed. Their generosity and musical perspective continue to shape what I pass along to students.

Martin Taylor

At an annual guitar retreat, our work has focused on rhythm, accompanying a vocalist, and jazz chord voicings. His guidance helped me feel jazz guitar instead of only understanding it intellectually.

Nate Radley

While pursuing my music degree at Kutztown University, Nate guided me through jazz improvisation, chord vocabulary, and harmony with the patience needed to rethink familiar habits.

Tony McManus

Tony introduced me to DADGAD and the possibilities created by open strings, unfamiliar chord shapes, alternate tunings, and new resonances.

Nelson Faria

Nelson mentored me in bossa nova and samba, from syncopation and accompaniment patterns to chord melody and cultural history. His teaching changed how I approach rhythm and harmony.

Walt Bibinger

Walt’s command of single-note lines, chords, octaves, and chord melody showed me how the jazz-guitar tradition can become personal, lyrical, and expressive.

Spencer Reed

Spencer’s musical life centers on listening, collaboration, accompaniment, phrasing, harmony, and supporting the other musicians in an ensemble.

A Lesson Behind Every Lesson

You have to hear it before you can truly play it.

Technique alone is not enough. To learn a style, you have to listen deeply—absorbing its rhythm, phrasing, harmony, history, and spirit until the music becomes part of your own voice.

An Inclusive Music Community

Music is for everyone.

Music in the community

I volunteer my time as a guitar instructor with Guitars for Vets. I teach in its Hershey and Lebanon chapters. This national program helps veterans living with PTSD build musical skills and lasting friendships. I also lead a free guitar workshop twice a month at Beating the Odds Recovery and Veterans Services for veterans and people in recovery. I also work with the VA hospital in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. See the Recovery Guitar Workshop for details.

Have a volunteer opportunity?

The Recovery Guitar Workshop is part of my volunteer work at Beating the Odds Recovery and Veterans Services. If your organization has a volunteer opportunity where I could share my time and music, please contact me through my form.
