I believe anyone can learn to play guitar, regardless of age, background, or previous experience. I’ve taught adults who never thought they were “musical,” as well as students returning to the instrument after decades away. Time and again, I’ve seen confidence grow when lessons are encouraging, personalized, and focused on steady progress rather than perfection.
My goal isn’t simply to teach chords or songs. It’s to help you develop lasting musical skills while enjoying the journey. Every lesson is tailored to your goals, learning style, and interests, so you always know what to practice and why it matters. Whether you dream of playing around the campfire, performing on stage, writing your own music, or simply relaxing with your favorite songs after work, I’ll help you build the skills to get there.
As a teacher with over 30 years of performing experience and advanced degrees in music, I combine proven teaching methods with a patient, supportive approach that helps students of all experience levels succeed. My greatest reward is seeing students discover that making music is something they truly can do.

Their mentorship has shaped my approach to music, allowing me to pass along many of the techniques and musical ideas I’ve learned to students in a practical, encouraging way.

Students learn the music they enjoy. Lessons can include acoustic, fingerstyle, rock, blues, folk, pop, jazz, improvisation, music theory, composition, and more.
Yes. Live one on one Zoom lessons are available for students anywhere. Online students receive personalized instruction, downloadable lesson materials, custom practice resources, and follow up notes after each lesson.
Yes. You’ll need an acoustic or electric guitar for lessons. If you’re not sure what to buy, I’ll gladly help you choose an instrument that fits your budget.
Yes. While many students are beginners or returning players, I also work with experienced guitarists who want to improve fingerstyle technique, improvisation, music theory, arranging, composition, and musicianship.
Private lessons are available in 30, 45, and 60 minute sessions. We’ll determine the best option based on your goals and schedule.
We’ll get to know each other, discuss your musical goals, answer your questions, and create a plan that fits your interests and experience. There is absolutely no obligation to continue.
Even 15 to 20 minutes of focused practice several times a week can produce excellent progress. I’ll help you create a realistic practice routine that fits your lifestyle.
