Blue Echo Music Lab

Hi, I’m J. I believe there is a big difference between holding a guitar and being a musician.

Most people get stuck in a cycle of memorizing tabs without ever understanding how the music actually works. I’m here to break that cycle. My teaching philosophy combines practical guitar technique with music fundamentals so you can stop guessing and start creating.

My Background

As both a self-taught musician and someone who pursued private lessons whenever I could afford them, I understand firsthand the challenges students face when trying to learn without clear guidance.

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Music and a Master’s Degree in Music Composition, combining formal academic training with practical teaching and performance experience.

I’ve performed in bands, composed music, and studied guitar with world-renowned players including Martin Taylor, John Knowles (CGP), Richard Smith, and Nelson Faria—author of The Brazilian Guitar Book, a highly respected resource for learning Bossa Nova and Brazilian guitar styles.

My Approach

At B.E. Music Lab, we don’t just learn how to play songs—we break them apart to understand what makes them work.

Whether you want to:

  • Master the fretboard
  • Understand the “magic” of music theory
  • Improve your technique
  • Write original music
  • Or simply become a more confident musician

I’ll help you build the roadmap to get there.

Inclusive & Accessible

B.E. Music Lab is proudly inclusive and welcoming to students of all backgrounds, identities, and experience levels.

Discounted rates are available for veterans, LGBTQ+ students, those navigating mental health or financial hardship, and others with special circumstances—because music education should be accessible to everyone.

If cost is a barrier, reach out and we’ll do our best to work with you.
